What this site keeps about you
No cookie, no account, no advertising. The only personal data this site can hold is your email address, and only if you ask for price alerts or the weekly digest.
When you browse
- No page sets a cookie, and the price-alert form does not either.
- Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookie and no identifier that follows you from one day or one site to the next.
- A click on a retailer link is counted as a tally (the page, the model, the retailer, whether the link pays us), with nothing about you: no IP address, no browser details, no identifier.
Price alerts and the weekly digest
What we keep
- your email address;
- the models you follow, and whether you asked for the weekly digest;
- the language of your emails;
- the date and time you asked and the date and time you confirmed, the page you asked from, and the version of the wording you accepted, which together prove your consent;
- for each model, the date and the price of the last alert we sent you, so we can keep to one email per model per week.
To stop the form being used to flood someone’s inbox, each attempt leaves a keyed fingerprint (an HMAC) of the IP address it came from and of the address it names, never the values themselves. Fingerprints are deleted after 24 hours.
Nothing else: no name, no IP address, no record of whether you open an email or click a link.
Why, and on what basis
To send you the emails you asked for, and nothing else. The legal basis is your consent (GDPR art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time with the link in every email. The anti-abuse fingerprints rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the form from being turned against someone (art. 6(1)(f)).
For how long
- As long as you stay subscribed.
- An address that is not confirmed within 7 days is erased, with what it asked for.
- Unsubscribing deletes your address and everything attached to it at once. There is no list of former subscribers: if you sign up again later, you start from scratch, with a new confirmation.
Who handles it
Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc., San Francisco, United States) sends our emails, as our processor. It receives your address and the content of each email when it is sent. Our emails leave from Resend’s Ireland region, but Resend keeps account data, logs and email metadata in the United States; its data processing addendum bases that transfer on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and on its certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Open and click tracking are switched off: our emails carry no tracking pixel, and their links are not rewritten.
If you write to contact@apertureastro.com, your message is kept in our mailbox at Zoho Mail, in Zoho’s EU data centre.
The database that holds your address is run by Neon, in the AWS eu-central-1 region (Frankfurt, Germany). The site itself is served by Vercel.
No one else receives it. We sell nothing and show no advertising.
Your rights
You can see, correct, export or delete what we hold, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw your consent at any time. The manage link in every email shows everything we hold and deletes it in one click; for anything else, write to contact@apertureastro.com. If you think we have got something wrong, you can complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr).
Who is responsible
Matthew Livoti, the publisher of apertureastro.com, is the data controller. Full identification details are on the legal notice page.
